Pressure Washing & Outdoor Maintenance Services in Niagara
May 27, 2026Introduction
Mounting a TV seems like a simple DIY project—until you’re standing on a ladder with a 65-inch screen and no idea where the studs are. Or worse, until the TV falls off the wall.
TV mounting is one of BuildNest’s most-requested services across the Niagara Region—and for good reason. Done right, a wall-mounted TV looks sleek, saves floor space, improves viewing angles, and protects your investment. Done wrong, it’s a safety hazard.
Whether you have standard drywall, older plaster walls, or solid concrete (common in Niagara condos and older homes), our team has the tools and expertise to mount your TV safely and cleanly.
TV Mounting on Drywall: What You Need to Know
Most Niagara homes have drywall interiors. Mounting a TV on drywall requires locating the wooden studs behind the drywall—typically spaced 16″ or 24″ apart—and securing the mount directly into the studs. Common drywall mistakes homeowners make:
- Using only drywall anchors (not strong enough for heavy TVs)
- Incorrect stud location (walls can fool you)
- Wrong mount type for the TV’s VESA pattern
- Not accounting for tilt/swivel clearance
- Leaving visible cables and wires
BuildNest’s process for drywall TV mounting: locate and confirm stud positions, select correct mount for VESA pattern, mark and drill pilot holes into studs, secure wall plate with heavy-duty lag bolts, attach TV bracket, level the screen, and manage/conceal cables. We double-check the load rating before any TV over 50″ is hung.
TV Mounting on Concrete & Brick: The Expert Approach
Concrete and brick mounting is common in Niagara condos, older homes, and commercial properties. It requires completely different tools and hardware. Our concrete mounting process:
- Mark the exact mounting position (concrete is unforgiving—you get one shot)
- Use hammer drill with masonry bit to drill precise holes
- Insert concrete anchors (Tapcon screws or heavy-duty expansion anchors)
- Secure mount and test with load test before hanging TV
What makes concrete mounting challenging: rebar positioning can interfere with drilling, hollow-core concrete blocks require different anchor types, dust control is critical, and harder to correct mistakes if the first holes are wrong.
Cable Management: The Detail That Makes All the Difference
A beautifully mounted TV with wires hanging down the wall looks worse than no TV at all. We offer two cable management approaches:
- In-Wall Cable Concealment (Drywall Only) — Cables are routed through the wall cavity and exit at an outlet-level opening. Results in a completely clean, wire-free look.
- Surface Raceway / Cable Cover — Cables are enclosed in paintable plastic raceway that runs along the wall. No cutting required—great for concrete or when in-wall isn’t preferred.
We discuss both options with every customer and recommend based on wall type, TV height, and your aesthetic preference.
